Dr. Lilit Vardanyan, postdoc researcher from the Department of Aquatic Sciences and Assessment, Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, Uppsala, Sweden, has participated in “Between Europe and the Orient – A Focus on Research and Higher Education in/on Central Asia and the Caucasus” International Conference, which was held in Tbilisi, Georgia, May 19–21, 2010. Conference was organized by Volkswagen Foundation, Germany and had focused on the research/scientific projects funded by the foundation in last 5 years. Lilit Vardanyan with her German co-partners presented a paper on “Remote Sensing and GIS Application for Development of Measures for a Sustainable Management of Lake Sevan (Armenia) – the SEMIS Project”.
Lilit has got her MSc from Armenian State Pedagogical Institute, Department of Biology and Ecology. Her PhD research includes multidisciplinary aspects of biology, ecology and chemistry and has been carried out in Institute of Landscape and Plant Ecology, University of Hohenheim, Stuttgart – Germany; National Institute of Oceanography – India; Nature and Parks Authority – Israel. Lilit has got her PhD degree in 2006, from the Institute of Botany, National Academy of Sciences of Armenia.
She is an author of many papers in international referred journals.
Lilit Vardanyan’s main research interest is phytoremediation, macrophytes, water quality, environmental botany, heavy metals and several other aspects of environmental ecotoxicology.
