Mushegh Asatryan is a visiting Lecturer in Language and Culture Studies at Trinity College. His research interests include early Islamic religious history, with special focus on Shi’a sectarian movements and theologies. He has several publications on Islamic thought in academic journals and encyclopedias. His current research project is an article about the role of the network of ‘money-changers’ in medieval Iraq, and about their role in early Shi’ism. He is currently completing his PhD degree in Religious Studies at Yale University. From March 2012, he will begin work as a Research Associate at the Institute of Ismaili Studies in London.
