UNIVERSITY LECTURERSHIP IN PERSIAN LITERATURE

UNIVERSITY OF OXFORD FACULTY OF ORIENTAL STUDIES IN ASSOCIATION WITH WADHAM COLLEGE UNIVERSITY LECTURERSHIP (NON TUTORIAL FELLOWSHIP) IN PERSIAN LITERATURE GRADE 36S, £42,883 - £57,581

The University proposes to appoint a University Lecturer in Persian   literature from 1 September 2013 or as soon as possible thereafter.    The University Lecturer will be required to give lectures, classes and   tutorials in classical and modern literature, to organise teaching in   Persian at all levels, to carry out research, examine, supervise   graduate students, and to play a part in the administrative work of   the Faculty of Oriental Studies.  The person appointed may be offered   a Governing Body Fellowship at Wadham College.

The successful applicant must hold, by the start of the appointment, a   doctorate in a related field; have specialist expertise in one or more   aspects of Persian literature; demonstrate competence to teach both   classical and modern Persian literature at undergraduate and graduate   levels, through lectures, classes and tutorials; demonstrate a   sufficient command of the Persian language to carry out research using   primary sources in the original language and to teach undergraduate   and graduate students to use Persian sources for research in both   classical and modern Persian literature; demonstrate a commitment to   research of the highest calibre in one or more areas of Persian   literature and to publishing this research at the level expected by   international journals and major presses; have excellent   communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills; demonstrate a   commitment to supporting students academically and pastorally in the   Faculty and College contexts; and be able and ready to undertake   administration in the Faculty and the College, and to co-operate in   Faculty and College affairs.  It would be desirable for applicants to   have the ability to lead collaborative research projects and supervise   postgraduate research in one or more fields of Persian literature; and   to have a primary research interest in classical Persian literature.
