Gayaneh Melkom Melkomian was amongst the first students to receive a scholarship from the Luys Foundation to pursue her studies at McGill University in Canada. She graduated from the French University in Armenia in 2009 with a Masters Degree in International Business Law. The same year she was accepted to McGill University for an LLM Programme which she successfully completed in summer 2010.
While at McGill, Gayaneh constructed her academic programme so as to meet her interest in corporate law and intellectual property. Her final research project, which was supervised by Professor Pierre-Emmanuel Moyse, was entitled “Ambush Marketing: Law and Ethics”.
During her studies at McGill Gayaneh served as a member of the Internal Affairs Committee of the University’s Post-Graduate Students’ Association. As a member of the Armenian Association for Academic Partnership and Support – ARMACAD as well as a member of McGill Armenian Students Association she organized the meeting of two Associations in October 2009 and delivered a speech during the meeting to outline the history of ARMACAD, the reasons for its establishment and stress the importance of academic partnership between Armenian and Diaspora academically oriented associations.
She is currently looking into possibilities of furthering her education and practical experience before returning back to Armenia.
